The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and Carrera 4 Cabriolet continue de development of the new 992 generation Porsche 911 lineup. After the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera 4S, the new Carrera 4 Coupé and Cabriolet bridge the gap and offer all-weather performance at a more accessible level without any compromise.
More Power in the New Porsche 911 Carrera 4
The new Porsche Carrera 4 is powered by a twin-turbo, 3.0-litre Boxer 6-cylinder engine with 379 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque which is enough to get to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, or 4.0 seconds with the Sport Chrono package. It is the same engine that powers the Porsche 992 911 Carrera, but the 4 gets the added benefit of all-wheel drive in both the Coupé and Cabriolet models. Although you can still enjoy a Porsche 911 rear-wheel drive in winter thanks to the vehicle’s incredible balance, the Carrera 4 with AWD is certainly your best bet to enjoy wet or slippery roads with supreme confidence.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 starts at $119,300 while the Cabriolet starts at $133,900. That puts the Carrera 4 right between the base 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S.
Mechanical changes are similar to the 911 Carrera 4S and many of the technologies found in the latter are also included in the new Carrera 4. These include a new water-cooled differential unit and clutch, a reinforced dual-clutch system, and a refined Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system. The damping system can be adjusted to either “Normal” or “Sport” modes for the best performance and handling in any situation.
Inside, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 gets the same enhancements as other 992 models including a new digital centre console and dashboard featuring a range of configurable features through a 10.9-inch centre touch screen. The interior remains ergonomic and upscale, but the overall design is quite a bit more refined than previous generations.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and Cabriolet offer all-weather performance with added comfort and luxury compared to previous generations. They are also faster than ever, besting the previous 911 Carrera 4 to 100 km/h by 0.3 seconds while also handling better and being more balanced. The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and Carrera 4 Cabriolet may be an in-between selection, they are designed to ensure that no compromise is needed in terms of performance, traction, comfort, and overall behavior 365 days a year.
